Rajendra Tiwari
(Founder & National General Secretary)

Rajendra Tiwari is a distinguished theatre director, writer, actor, and social activist, and the Founder & National General Secretary of Akhil Bhartiya Sanskritik Sansthan (ABSS), Lucknow. With more than three decades of continuous service, he has dedicated his life to the preservation of Indian culture and to social reform through theatre and performing arts.

He founded Akhil Bhartiya Sanskritik Sansthan on 2 October 1990 at Gandhi Bhavan, Lucknow, starting with only 11 members. Inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and a deep commitment to Indianness, Rajendra Tiwari envisioned an organization where art would serve society, educate the masses, and bring positive social change.

Under his visionary leadership, the organization has expanded into a nationwide movement involving over 2,500 artists. He has guided the staging of more than 400 theatre productions and has personally led and performed over 3,000 street plays across India. These performances have played a vital role in spreading awareness at the grassroots level.

Through his creative leadership, Rajendra Tiwari has used theatre to address critical national and social issues, including health awareness, education, women empowerment, Beti Bachao–Beti Padhao, drug de-addiction, population control, environmental protection, water conservation, disaster management, social harmony, and national unity. His work has reached schools, colleges, villages, urban centers, and public spaces, directly engaging communities.

In addition to theatre, he has organized and directed hundreds of cultural programs involving dance, music, drama, and live performances in various states of India. He has also contributed to social cinema by producing social documentary films and the social comedy short film “Pati Chahi”, inspired by the teachings of Mahavir Swami, combining entertainment with meaningful social messages. With active branches of the organization in Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow, Sitapur, Hardoi) and Mumbai, Maharashtra, Rajendra Tiwari continues to mentor young artists and strengthen cultural values across the nation.

For Rajendra Tiwari, theatre is not merely an art form—it is a mission for social transformation, cultural preservation, and nation building.
